OFFICIALS: BOY GRABBED BY GATOR DIED BY DROWNING

The District 9 Medical Examiner’s Office finished the autopsy of Lane Graves on Thursday and issued the cause of death. Authorities recovered the boy’s body intact Wednesday afternoon, less than 24 hours after he was snatched from the shore of a lake. His family was vacationing at the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa at Walt Disney World.

DISH TV LAUNCHES NEW CUBAN CHANNEL IN THE US

The companies say CUBAMAX TV will be the first channel in the United States to provide a variety of programs such as telenovelas, movies, children’s shows and music videos by Cuban artists. The new channel’s goal is to reconnect Cuban-Americans with the heritage of their country of origin.

FLORIDA DEPUTY FACING CHILD SEX CHARGES FATALLY SHOOTS SELF

Broward County Sheriff’s spokeswoman Veda Coleman-Wright said in a news release that 43-year-old Sgt. Kreg Costa died Wednesday night at a hospital in Fort Lauderdale. She says Costa shot himself at his home in Sunrise after being released from jail on bond earlier Wednesday.

FIU PROFESSOR ARRESTED IN SEXUAL ASSAULT CASE

A U.S. Marshals Service news release says David Ralston was arrested Thursday at a Fort Lauderdale hotel. He faces a charge of sexual assault of a helpless victim. The release says Ralston gave his housekeeper a drugged beverage that made her feel disoriented in his Fort Myers home. The victim said he sexually assaulted her, despite her effort to push him away.

PROSECUTORS SEEK DEATH PENALTY FOR INFANT’S DEATH

Assistant State Attorney Jack Campbell filed the notice against 26-year-old Dajuan Barnes last week. He was arrested last month. Authorities say Barnes called 911 when the infant stopped breathing and became unresponsive. Medical examiners determined that the infant died of a broken spinal cord and a severed aorta.
