MELISSA ETHERIDGE PENS SONG ABOUT ORLANDO
Singer-songwriter Melissa Etheridge responded to the mass shooting at a Florida nightclub by doing one thing she felt she could do, which was write a song. Etheridge told the Rolling Stone that she titled the song “Pulse” after the club where 49 people were killed and dozens more wounded in Orlando on Sunday. The song was written almost immediately after she heard the news and recorded on Monday with producer Jerry Wonda.
DRIVER SHOT BY OFFICER AFTER FLEEING RESTAURANT PARKING LOT
Miami-Dade police report in a news release that the incident occurred early Wednesday while 21-year-old Bernardo Castaneda Jr. was among a group of drivers. Police say Castaneda fled from the parking lot after patrol officers asked him for identification. Authorities say an officer broke Castaneda’s car window, and shots were fired.

St. Petersburg police reported in a news release that 23-year-old Niesha Nicole Annie Henderson was found dead Tuesday morning after someone called police to report her 9-month-old son seemingly abandoned in a stroller nearby.
911 CALLS RELEASED IN CHILDREN’S SUFFOCATION BY MOTHER
In the eight-minute call released Monday by Miramar police, Neisha Nettleford made told the operator, “Honestly, I think they are dead.” Nettleford made the call last Wednesday, the same day the children were suffocated. She called police after Sophia Hines contacted her and told her to come home.
