5th Annual Raider Games are big success

After being postponed several times because of rain, the Raider Games went off without a hitch on Wednesday, May 18. “The main reason we hold these games is so the kids have fun,” coordinator Jessica Howie said. Judging from the smiles on the athletes’ faces, the event was an overwhelming success.

“This event was originally called the Sports Ability Games and was open to all county schools,” Howie said. “When that countywide event was canceled, we started the Raider Games for just Navarre schools. The response from the community and volunteers has been overwhelming. This is our fifth year of holding the Raider Games and each year the games have grown. We raised more than $3,000 this year. The donations paid for shirts, medals and lunch for each athlete.”
