TEEN GETS 30 YEARS IN FLORIDA SCHOOL BUS SHOOTING CASE

Edgar Robles was sentenced Monday after pleading guilty to two counts of attempted second-degree murder and one count of shooting or throwing a deadly missile. Police say Robles and two friends approached the school bus last May to confront some other boys, and Robles opened fire. A bullet went through a girl’s cheeks. Another girl was hit in the back of the head.

LAWYER WANTS SOME CHARGES DISMISSED IN JEWELRY STORE HEISTS

In a motion filed over the weekend, attorney Michelle Daffin argues that forcing clerks at gunpoint to be bound in a back room is not violent by definition. Abigail Kemp and three men are accused in the robberies of stores in Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.

MOM SUES SCHOOL DISTRICT TO STOP TRANSGENDER BATHROOM USE

Wryshona Isaac filed the lawsuit against Duval County Public Schools on Tuesday. Isaac is the mother of four students who attend the schools. The suit alleges the district is not providing a safe environment for Isaac’s children.

2 MEN DEAD, 1 INJURED AFTER SWIMMING OFF SOUTH FLORIDA BEACH

Miami-Dade police spokesman Alvaro Zabaleta said in an email that a group of four men went to Haulover Beach on Tuesday. Three members of the group entered the water and soon found themselves in distress. Zabaleta says an off-duty Bal Harbor police officer jumped into the water to render aid. Two of the men were transported to Aventura Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

INSURERS TELL FLORIDA: DON’T MAKE US LOOK FOR BENEFICIARIES

Four companies that sell life insurance in Florida are suing to block a new law that requires them to annually check to see if policy holders have died and then try to find beneficiaries when they have. The companies filed a lawsuit in early May against Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater, since Atwater’s agency is responsible for enforcing the new law.
