Keeping art education alive

Oh what a night for art programs in the local schools. Educators, students and supporters of the arts gathered in the Gulf Breeze Library Meeting Room the evening of May 3 for a presentation where Gulf Breeze Arts, Inc., awarded a $20,000 grant for art programs and other education efforts in area schools.

This is one of the largest awards ever given to benefit art programs in Santa Rosa County. Schools receiving portions of the grant included those from Navarre, Gulf Breeze and Pensacola. Of the Navarre schools which received monetary awards, Navarre High School, Holley-Navarre Middle, Holley-Navarre Intermediate, Holley-Navarre Primary, West Navarre Primary, West Navarre Intermediate and Woodlawn Beach Middle were all represented.

Anita Williams, the president of Gulf Breeze Arts, Inc., told Navarre Press that all of the funds donated to these schools came from the proceeds from the Gulf Breeze Arts Festival.
