As he sits outside on a bench at Navarre High School on a mild spring afternoon, Nick Brahms reflects on how crazy the last month or so has been in terms of the number of football scholarship offers that have come rolling in.
“I got my first offer last year from FAU (Florida Atlantic), and then about a month ago it really started to pick up,” Brahms said. “Everyone was telling me things were going to pick up but I didn’t believe them. It definitely has.”
To say things have picked up is one way to put it. The list of offers for Brahms, an offensive lineman for the Raiders, is at 20 and features schools everywhere from the Ivy League – Yale and Columbia are among them – to the ACC (Virginia and Louisville), Big Ten (Minnesota) and even the U.S. Air Force Academy.
“It’s a blessing to have so much interest,” Brahms said. “It’s always been a dream of mine to play college football and represent Navarre at that level.”
Brahms is riding the high of the experience and is healthy as ever. He missed two games a year ago with a torn ligament in his foot and missed half of his sophomore season with a foot injury.
If there were any questions about his health, they were answered at the Rivals.com camp in New Orleans earlier this year.
“Going to Rivals was a great experience,” Brahms said. “I met a lot of great players and faced really good competition. I really enjoyed it.”
