Sunset hike to celebrate National Trails Day

In celebration of the American Hiking Society’s National Trails Day, Gulf Islands National Seashore hosted a sunset hike at Fort Pickens June 7. Around 30 hikers enjoyed a leisurely 2.5-mile walk along the Florida National Scenic Trail, a path of more than 1,000 miles which starts in Big Cypress Swamp and ends at Fort Pickens.
Park Ranger Steamer Lawhead led a sunset hike at Fort Pickens June 7, stopping atop Battery Worth to share historical information.
