TEEN GIRL SENTENCED IN SHOOTING OF FLORIDA TROOPER

A Brevard County judge sentenced the 16-year-old girl as a juvenile Wednesday to a high-security facility for 18 to 30 months. She could later be resentenced as an adult if she violates the terms of her treatment or probation.

During her first court appearance Wednesday, Susan Richardson held her head down and stayed quiet, prompting the judge to ask if she was awake. Police arrested Richardson on Tuesday on charges of child neglect and unlawful desertion of a child.
