Miami-Dade Circuit Judge John Schlesinger will hear expert testimony and evidence Thursday in the case of Michael Hernandez, now 26. Hernandez was sentenced to life in prison without parole for the 2004 slaying of 14-year-old Jaime Gough.

A man was critically wounded after opening fire on Florida deputies during a brief standoff Wednesday night outside an Ocala gas station.

COP HITS BOY WITH VEHICLE

A 6-year-old boy suffered a broken leg and some bruises after a Miami police officer ran him over with his patrol car. Miami Police Maj. Delrish Moss tells news outlets that the unidentified officer struck the boy Wednesday afternoon in Miami when the child tried to cross the street on a scooter.
