State economists are meeting Tuesday to draw up new forecasts to predict how much the state will collect in taxes. The forecasts will be used by state legislators to draw up this year’s budget for the fiscal year that begins in July.

COPS FATALLY SHOOT MAN IN ORLANDO

Two officers told the man to drop his gun, but he didn’t obey orders and was shot on Monday night. He died a short time later at a hospital. It wasn’t clear whether he fired his gun.

FEDS SEIZE ABOUT 300 FAKE HOVERBOARDS IN MIAMI

U.S. Customs and Border Protection says about 300 boards were seized last week at the Port of Miami.

THOUSANDS ASK UNION TO END LAWSUIT AGAINST VOUCHER PROGRAM

About a week ago, teachers frustrated with the state’s education system held their own protest against everything from high-stakes testing to a teacher bonuses program. This time, however, it was the union that represents the teachers that was the target of protest.
