Flood control work could be ineffective

The $400,000 engineering study ordered up by Santa Rosa County commissioners two years ago suggests $60 million in possible flood control measures for Holley by the Sea but warns that some may not be worth the money.

Several of the 30 projects cited by Baskerville Donovan Inc. as having stormwater prevention potential for residential neighborhoods, while likely to have some impact, probably wouldn’t prevent severe flooding of the sort that occurred during and after the record torrential rains that hit in April 2014, the company concluded.
