Raiders blank Wildcats in girls soccer action

Navarre 8, Washington 0

The Lady Raiders made short work of their last district game on Dec. 8. It took them only 40 minutes to put away Washington 8 – 0. The game ended at halftime.

The Wildcats were overwhelmed from the opening whistle. In the 2nd minute, Kayla Folse took a pass from Emily Madril and scored her first goal of the evening. A minute later, Sydney Whitehead scored after taking a pass from Lexi Stikeleather giving the Raiders a 2 – 0 lead.

The Wildcats were able to keep the Raiders from scoring again until the 7th minute when Madril came down the left side and dribbled past several Wildcat defenders. About 20 yards from the goal, she fired a hard shot into the right corner of the net. The Raiders now led 3 – 0.

A minute later Stikeleather ran down the middle and Madril found her with a pass. Stikeleather muscled it past several defenders and the Raiders led by a 4 – 0 score.

After that goal, Coach Rob Simon pulled several players and continued the game with only 10 players for the rest of the game. Simon’s move worked for a few minutes, but the Raiders could not be stopped.

In the 14th minute, Anekah Madril dribbled through several defenders before finding Folse near the right post. Folse caught the Wildcat keeper out of position and deposited the ball into the net for a 5 – 0 lead.

A minute later, Folse had her hat trick when she stole a ball from a Wildcat defender and converted it into a quick goal to make the score 6 – 0.

The Raiders did not score again until the 36th minute. Stikeleather took the ball near midfield and charged toward the net. Her shot beat Wildcat keeper and the Raiders led 7 – 0.
