Gov. Rick Scott issued a press release touting the highest level of Florida jobs available in a decade, with a total of nearly 300,000 openings across the state. “Florida is leading all large states in job growth and we will keep working every day to be first for jobs,” Scott said.
Job demand in Florida increased by 19,272 openings in Nov. to 299,530, an increase of 6.9 percent. Santa Rosa County was not as fortunate as the rest of the state, seeing an actual decrease in available jobs from 1,900 in November to 962 as of Dec. 2. “This downward slide is typical this time of year,” Eric Flora, jobs and benefit director with the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity said.
