Jordan Leggett and his Clemson teammates will play for an ACC championship Saturday. The top-ranked and unbeaten Tigers (12-0) square off against the North Carolina Tar Heels (11-1) in the conference title game at 8 p.m. EST at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.
“It will be two high-powered offenses going up against each other,” Leggett said. “We’re practicing with a purpose this week. We’re excited about the opportunity.”
The Tigers control their own destiny in terms of reaching the College Football Playoff. A win assures them of a spot in a national semifinal on New Year’s Eve.
“There is a lot of hype, but we know we are in a great position,” Leggett said. “We control our destiny. We’re motivated and focused.”
Leggett has done his part to help put the Tigers in contention for a championship, establishing himself as one of the top tight ends in the nation. A finalist for the Mackey Award, the former Navarre standout has caught 31 passes for 418 yards and six touchdowns. He ranks fourth on the team in receptions and is first on the team in touchdown catches.
“I’ve put in a lot of hard work in the offseason and have done things right on and off the field,” Leggett said. “It’s great to see it all pay off. I’m living a dream right now.”
