Raiders move up in poll

Navarre’s football team rose another notch in the state football poll this week, rising one spot to fourth in the 6A rankings. The Raiders are 8-0 on the season after blasting Milton 35-0 in a District 2-6A game Friday night in Milton. It was the second time this season Navarre has shutout an opponent. The defense has allowed only 98 points this season.

The Raiders are 2-0 in the district and control their own destiny heading into next week’s rivalry game with Gulf Breeze. Not only will the Beach Bowl Trophy be on the line, but the Raiders can clinch the district championship as well and assure themselves of playing at home in the opening round of the playoffs next month.

Navarre has scored 35 or more points six times and has churned out more than 2,300 rushing yards en route to establishing themselves as one of the top teams in the state.

The Raiders will have one game to play after their battle with the Dolphins as they will host Niceville Nov. 6. The Eagles are eighth in this week’s poll.

Armwood is ranked No. 1 and received 12 first-place votes. St. Augustine is second and Mainland is third. Naples is also in the top five.
