Milton man arrested for aggravated assault on deputy

PattersonAccording to a release issued by the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office, Alan Doyle Patterson, age 55 of Milton, called 911 Oct. 1 stating that he was armed with a handgun and wanted to hurt himself. In response, deputies were dispatched to his Pebble Ridge Drive home.

As deputies approached the home, several gunshots were heard coming from the direction of the home. Witness statements advised that Patterson, who was standing outside his residence, also shot in the direction of an approaching deputy.

As the deputies made a tactical approach on the home, Patterson was observed standing in the front of the home with a gun in his hand. After lawful commands were given to drop the gun, he complied but attempted to run back into his home where he was taken into custody.

No one was injured during the course of this incident. The exact motive of the suspect is still unknown at this time.

SRSO Major Crimes Detectives and Crime Scene responded to the home where a search warrant was subsequently executed at the residence.

Patterson was taken to the Santa Rosa County Jail where he remains on a $10,000 bond.
