Lease fee caps of $250 can still be retroactive

The roughly 1,500 Navarre Beach residents eligible for the new $250 cap on their property lease fees who didn’t file by June 30, 2015, as specified by Santa Rosa County Attorney Roy Andrews can still apply and receive the reduced rate retroactively.

“There’s been some confusion on this,” said Mike Burton, the county finance director, on Friday. His previous understanding was that June 30 represented a filing deadline, and that missing it would cost some individuals hundreds or even thousands of dollars.

But Burton said Andrews has clarified the requirement of lessees to file applications for the $250 cap.
