Juana’s Good Time Regatta breaking records

This weekend Juana’s Regatta will paint the sound with masts of every color on what they hope is a record-breaking number of boats participating in the two-day event.   The popular race already has more than 70 boats pre-registered, which is the most ever in the 25-year history of the Good Time Regatta.

“We have world-class racers, and we have beginners.  It really is an event that sailors at all levels can enjoy,” said Juana Rudzki, the event organizer and the person for whom the race and the beach bar are named.

New to the regatta this year is the wind surf category.  They will have timed races on the rental boats available at Juana’s, and the more serious wind surfers who have their own boats will have the opportunity to race a longer course if they choose.

The last chance to register for the weekend race is at the kick-off party Friday night at Juana’s Pagodas.  Saturday is the distance race.  The larger boats take the course all the way to near Pensacola Beach and back, while the smaller boats complete a course about half the distance.   Sunday’s events are centered around the triangle races and there are different fleets for different-sized boats.
