It was a simple message.
“Would our town be interested in showing support for police officers on September 26th-30th?
Many other cities in the U.S. are showing their support on this month. I am willing to make lots of blue bows if I can get the ribbon this week. We could “paint the town blue” to show our appreciation,” wrote Tina Bridges on a local social media site.
Navarre resident Jo Ann Lane had much the same idea writing in a separate post, “I would love to see our community use the blue ribbons in support of our Law Enforcement!. Who’s with me??”
With hundreds of “likes” and many comments later, an idea was radiating through Navarre with a mission of bolstering the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office by showing their support with a blue ribbon campaign. Community residents are encouraged to place a blue bow or ribbon on their mailbox or front of their house from Sept. 26-30.
