Popularity of beach cam still going strong

Kenny Wilder started his webcam at Navarre Beach in 2006 for the purpose of showing the progress of the beach restoration project.

Once the project ended in November, the camera, located high above the beach of the 15th floor of the Bell Mer Condominium building, remained in place because of the interest generated from it.

“Even after the project was done, people were still watching it,” said Wilder, the president and founder of ECT Telecom. “We get a lot of traffic for it. The average playtime is about 30 seconds for most cameras. With the one I have, the average time is about five and a half minutes.”
