A community’s role in grief

No matter the circumstances, with death comes grief.  However, when death is brought about suddenly by trauma, the grieving process can be different, and if left untreated it can turn into long-term depression, according to Meagan Glidden, a certified grief counselor in Navarre.

Glidden explains that when there is a traumatic death, something unanticipated, the surviving spouse and family must go through a complete reorganization of life.

“It is a very emotionally devastating time,” Glidden said.  “The family left behind had plans for the future; they knew where their life was going. Now all of that changes.”
