Commissioners approve public hearing for alcohol sales

The Santa Rosa County Board of County Commissioners approved a motion to host a public hearing regarding the county’s alcohol ordinance.

The 1991 ordinance allows Navarre Beach restaurants to sell alcohol from 7 to 2:30 a.m. seven days a week, while establishments on the mainland are restricted to the hours of 7 a.m. to midnight Monday through Saturday and noon to midnight on Sunday.

Proponents of the change have said the current ordinance gives businesses on the beach an unfair advantage.
