Special tax suggested for Tiger Point Golf Club

The idea of creating a special taxing district in Santa Rosa County to pay for improvements at the struggling Tiger Point Golf Club is gaining support among officials at the City of Gulf Breeze, which owns the facility.

Under various plans that will likely be discussed publicly on or before the scheduled Aug. 13 meeting between the council and the Santa Rosa County Commission, the county would authorize either a one-time special assessment, or an increase in real estate taxes for an unspecified part of the Tiger Point area.

Gulf Breeze Mayor Matt Dannheisser told the Navarre Press it’s up to the commissioners to decide how much they expect to be spent on the rehabbing the club’s defunct west course and how to pay for it.

Commissioners didn’t immediately return calls and emails seeking response on Monday.
