15 applicants so far for county administrator

With less than 10 days left to apply, only 15 people have applied for the job to replace Santa Rosa County Administrator Hunter Walker, who plans to retire in December after a 20-year tenure.

Walker told county commissioners Monday he was surprised more people had not applied for the position, which presently pays $132,412 a year.

However, the board did not see a need to extend the July 31 deadline. Human Resources Director DeVann Cook has said the county would likely use industry associations, such as the National Association of County and Florida Association of Counties, during the search for a new administrator.

Leon County Administrator Vince Long, part of a four-man team hired for $5,000 by the county via the Florida Association of County Managers to create a “short list” of applicants for further consideration, told the board they can “cull down” the list of candidates to five or ten individuals.

Commissioner Jayer Williamson made a successful motion that any additions to FACM’s short list must be added by a super-majority vote of the board.

So far the list of applicants includes:

Ryan Adkins

Scott Aiken

Michael Brillhart

Jim Coleman

Zee Gilbert

Michael Krusen

Mark Kutney

Brad Myers

Jim Palenick

Sammy Ragsdale

Jim Richardson

Robert Sivick

Dennis Sparks

Kris Tucker

Jim Walker
