Leggett named to Mackey Award Watch List

When he arrived at Clemson as a freshman two years ago, Jordan Leggett had never played tight end.

“In high school, I was a wide receiver,” Leggett said during a phone interview Saturday afternoon. “They decided to move me to tight end in college. I was good at running routes, but wasn’t a good pass blocker. I’ve made a lot of improvements and have become more of a traditional hybrid tight end.”

Now, the former Navarre standout is one of the best tight ends in the country. The Clemson junior is one of 33 players on the Mackey Award Watch List. The award is given to the nation’s best tight end.

“Being on the list is a big deal. It’s something I’ve wanted since I got here,” Leggett said. “I’m not surprised I’m on it because of how hard I’ve worked, but at the same time, I try not to think about it too much and keep myself humble. I just focus on what I need to do to play well.”
