15 projects eyed for RESTORE funds

Santa Rosa County’s local RESTORE council has identified 15 projects which could be recommended for funding through county’s first direct allocation of RESTORE Act funds, and several Navarre area projects made the list.

If the projects make the final cut later this year, including surviving a 45-day public comment period and receiving county commission approval, they could be implemented next summer.

“We’re excited,” said Charlene Mauro, director of the Northwest Florida Marine Education and Discovery of Gulf Ecosystems, Inc., which was recommended to receive $265,000 toward design costs for the future Gulf Coast Discovery Center, a $4.8 million planned expansion of the Navarre Beach Marine Science Station.
