Young baseball stars face big decision about future

Jesse Winker never played college baseball, although he had the option.

Instead, Winker did what many of the talented young players do when they are selected high in the draft – take the money and run.

A $1 million signing bonus is tough to pass up when you are 18.

So Winker, selected in the first round of the 2012 draft by the Cincinnati Reds – 49th overall – decided to go pro.

Three years later, Winker, a popular and talented outfielder with the Pensacola Blue Wahoos, has no regrets about his decision. His play on the field reaffirms the fact he did indeed make the right call.
