Overall, assessment scores remain steady

Santa Rosa County students had a decent showing in the Florida End-of-Course Assessments this year.

The district saw its highest improvement in Civics, which is measured for grades six through eight, with 77 percent passing compared to 71 percent in 2014. The overall state average went from a 61 percent passing rate to 65 percent.

The percentage of Santa Rosa County students in sixth through 12th grade who passed Biology I decreased by 6 percentage points, from 76 percent in 2014 to 70 percent in 2015. Statewide, the score dropped 3 percentage points from 68 to 65 percent.

However, statewide, students in the middle grades performed well, with a 90 percent passing rate.
