Navarre United continues to grow stronger

Katy Jones remembers being a young soccer player putting in hours of hard work to achieve her goal of playing at the college level.

Jones now spends her days sharing her knowledge of the game with players who are in the shoes she once stood in.

She coaches the freshmen girls soccer team at Navarre and is also entering her second year with the Navarre United Soccer Club. She will coach an 11U girls team this season.

“You learn to see things differently when you are a coach, but I enjoy teaching others the game,” Jones said. “Our club is growing. We’re competing against more established clubs, but the word is getting out. We have good coaches, good training and the staff is supported by our director of coaching (Phil Rose).”

Rose, who has more than 35 years of experience as a player, coach, scout and trainer, was brought in nearly two years ago to rebuild Navarre United. He believes the club is headed in the right direction.
