The fire that destroyed a Summit Drive home early Sunday morning was a result of arson, Kayla Anderson, spokesman with the state’s Fire Marshal’s Office, said Thursday morning. She said the department is investigating a “person of interest.”
Firefighters responded to the fully involved fire at 7057 Summit Drive at about 3:45 Sunday morning.
Holley-Navarre Fire Chief Ron Norton said the single occupant escaped the home without injury. The 2,600-square-foot home is a total loss, Norton said. All fire units had cleared the scene by 6:30 a.m.
The American Red Cross was notified and is assisting the resident.
Navarre Beach, Midway and Florosa fire departments assisted Holley-Navarre Fire District at the scene.
The state Fire Marshal’s Office is still investigating.
