Business continues to thrive in Santa Rosa Industrial Park, and a visit this week by county officials to a large retail conference appears to have attracted more industrial scouts to the area.
Santa Rosa County District 1 Commissioner Jayer Williamson and Shannon Ogletree, the county’s economic development director, just returned from the International Council of Shopping Centers Conference in Las Vegas.
The duo was joined by Brian Watkins, city manager of Milton, and the group successfully attracted two industry representatives to the area. Williamson said another few representatives expressed interest in scouting the county’s industrial sites and those people will be contacted next week.
“I think it’s promising,” Williamson said of the recruitment efforts, pointing out that Ogletree did an “outstanding” job networking with industry contacts.
On Tuesday, Ogletree plans to ask county commissioners to support the sale of a 2-acre parcel in Santa Rosa Industrial Park for the expansion of Gulf Cable’s facility.
