Surf Warriors help wounded vets ‘feel alive’

Navarre Surf Warriors hosted its fourth annual Learn to Surf event Saturday at Navarre Beach Marine Park, with nearly two dozen wounded warriors participating.

Despite red flag conditions, volunteers and wounded veterans braved heavy surf so the heroes could not only learn the sport, but also develop skills to help them tackle life after war.

Wounded Warrior staff member Kelley Palmer, a physical health and wellness specialist from Jacksonville, said learning to surf can help a wounded vet’s overall well-being.
