Beach renourishment tops RESTORE tourism funding scores

Two proposals for Navarre Beach restoration scored at the top of tourism proposals submitted for the first allotment of local RESTORE funding, which is expected to total around $4.3 million.

More than 50 projects totaling more than $52 million are vying for the first local allotment, resulting from the RESTORE Act funds following the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill.

Proposals were submitted to Santa Rosa County for consideration in four categories: infrastructure; economic development; tourism; and environment.
