Young musicians share the spotlight at national conference

With a first name that translates to “sweet melody,” it’s only fitting that Ariana Sealy is serious about music.

The fifth-grader, along with four other young musicians, make up the Navarre Youth Chorale, which recently returned from Organization of American Kodály Educators’ (OAKE) National Conference in Minneapolis.

Ann Leffard, Holley-Navarre Primary School’s music teacher, heads the youth chorale and is a member of OAKE, a professional organization named for a Hungarian composer and musician.

The conference brought together students from around the country and sent them on a whirlwind three-day rehearsal which culminated in Saturday night’s performance.
