Turtle Conservation Center expands efforts

The Navarre Beach Sea Turtle Conservation Center (NBSTCC) hosts a Trash Bash each month, collecting debris found along the beach in order to protect sea turtles that nest on the beach as well as other forms of marine life.

More than 1,100 pounds of trash was collected a year ago and a little more than 350 pounds have been collected this year after three Trash Bashes.

But the Trash Bash will have a different look to it this month as the NBSTCC is participating in a marine debris research project through the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the University of Florida.
