Former principal running for Santa Rosa Superintendent

A former longtime Santa Rosa County District Schools principal, Stewart “Buddy” Powell, pre-filed March 6 for the 2016 Superintendent of Schools race.

Powell is currently the only candidate for the seat currently held by Pace resident Tim Wyrosdick, who has not yet announced his intentions for the race.

Powell served as principal of several schools, including Gulf Breeze High School and Milton High School, before leaving his post as principal of Hobbs Middle School to work for the Escambia County, Alabama school district.
