Santa Rosa updating mitigation plan

Santa Rosa County officials are working with local municipalities to revise the county’s local mitigation strategy (LMS) plan, which is updated every five years.

According to the county website, the LMS plan was developed in February 2005 as a result of the federal Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000, which requires Florida to maintain an adopted state mitigation plan in conjunction with local governments.

The local LMS plan covers Santa Rosa County and provides a comprehensive, multijurisdictional plan to address natural hazards which could cause costly disasters and potentially endanger the health and safety of residents or jeopardize the economy.
