Safety concerns arise over $240K playground

District 4 Commissioner Rob Williamson announced plans for a new playground at the Navarre Sports Complex, located on High School Boulevard.

Williamson gave attendees of the Navarre Park improvements public meeting a sneak peek of the handicapped-accessible plan, including what he said will be the county’s first zip line at a county-owned park.

“As a Certified Playground Safety Inspector and a Santa Rosa County taxpayer, I am deeply concerned about the safety of the playground,” resident Andrew Adams said in an email to Williamson, adding, “Zip lines are dangerous and should only be used in expertly supervised environments.”
