Last week Santa Rosa County Commissioners held a workshop to develop a plan to generate tens of millions in revenue for under-funded and unfunded projects, such as beach renourishment.
Additional projects discussed included replacing the county courthouse, as well as an outdated emergency communications system and eventually the Navarre Beach Bridge.
Commissioners and county staff proposed a variety of funding sources for each project, including bridge tolls to help offset the projected $18.4 million cost of beach renourishment. Assuming a $1 toll, about $684,000 would be generated per year.
