Space Florida scouts Santa Rosa

Hope is on the horizon for Santa Rosa County to develop aviation or aerospace jobs at two county-owned industrial sites which have remained vacant for more than five years.

Officials from Space Florida, the agency created by the state Legislature to fuel aerospace economic development, met with Santa Rosa County leaders Jan. 8 and toured local sites, including Whiting Aviation Park and Northwest Florida Industrial Park at Interstate 10, exploring opportunities for future project funding.

“What I’m most excited about is their ability to bring resources,” Commissioner Rob Williamson said of Space Florida’s visit.
