Brotherhood of shark fishermen brave cold

Navarre Beach is mostly deserted during colder months, but there’s one group of local anglers who refuse to let frigid sea breezes and bone-chilling temperatures keep them off the island.

Shark fishermen bundle up in multiple layers of warm clothes and gather together, spending most of their time preparing bait and lines while waiting. And waiting.

Land-based shark fishing requires much patience, but anglers say it’s worth it to experience the thrill of pursuing massive predators lurking in Gulf waters in a practical, less costly way than fishing offshore.
