Arrest made in homicide

The Milton teen charged in the shooting a 40-year-old man on Dec. 26 was the victim’s stepdaughter, according to a report provided by the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office.

Taylor Lynn Crongeyer, 18, was arrested on a charge of homicide in the murder of Aubrey Cooley, 40.

Deputies found Cooley with his ankles tied to the trailer hitch of a pickup truck with a gunshot wound to the head according to the police report.

Crongeyer was found with a large amount of blood on her clothing at the residence, where she lived with Cooley listed as 2305 Dale Hall Road, Milton. Six weeks earlier, Crongeyer was arrested Nov. 11 on charges of driving under the influence and possession of alcohol.

The Dec. 27 mug shot shows Crongeyer with gauze under her right eye. A representative with the sheriff’s office stated that Crongeyer had a “few stitches” after her arrest for injuries that occurred before the deputies arrived on the scene of the crime.

Crongeyer remains in Santa Rosa Jail without bond and is currently the only suspect in the homicide.
