Millions of dollars are about to start flowing from monetary penalties associated with the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill. Santa Rosa County plans to announce Dec. 16 the availability of roughly $4.3 million for local projects. It’s the first of several phases of RESTORE funding directly allocated to the county.
The local RESTORE council will start soliciting project projects Jan. 12. A workshop for those interested in submitting proposals will be held during the regularly scheduled Feb. 9 local RESTORE Council meeting.
A technical team, comprised of county staff, will initially review submitted projects, which are due by March 13. The team will ensure proposals meet requirements outlined in the county’s request for proposal before scoring proposals in accordance to criteria developed by the council.
