Faiths combine to support flood victims

The First Baptist Church of Navarre recently hosted a group of students from High Point University of North Carolina who were in the state to build homes for local flood victims.

The group was working with the Florida Recovery Team, a ministry of the Alabama – West Florida Conference of The United Methodist Church. The organization’s mission is to provide “the loving presence of Christ as we respond to natural disasters within our conference and across the connection.”

Sixteen volunteers stayed in the church’s fellowship hall and were fed by a different church group each night after a hard day’s work building homes in Okaloosa and Walton counties.
