Bubba boosts Beaches to Woodlands Tour

Two-time Masters Champion Bubba Watson, who grew up in Bagdad, brought his family Oct. 4 to Sweet Season Farm north of Milton. They spent three hours having fun and enjoying a corn maze created in Watson’s likeness. The celebrity visit focused a huge spotlight on the county during the first weekend of the 11th Annual Beaches to Woodlands Tour. “All eyes are on Santa Rosa County during October,” said Kyle Holley, a member of the Santa Rosa County Tourist Development Council (TDC). In 2003, the TDC started the monthlong tour in an effort to extend the tourist season past Labor Day by highlighting routes filled with fun and educational events and attractions.

“I think people are finally understanding what the whole tour means,”said Holley, who says he thinks the tour encourages tourists, especially day visitors. “There’s so many benefits that we might not ever be able to measure for this,” noted Holley.
