Butterfly festival soars ahead for 8th year

“I have the best job, I really do,” butterfly wrangler Lorraine Hubbard said. “I love doing what I do.”

Hubbard was one of the 70- some volunteers who worked diligently to put the 8th annual Monarch Madness event on, which was expected to garner 2,000 visitors between Friday and Saturday.

The 2-day festival got off to a slow start with rainy weather Friday, Mary Derrick, horticulture extension agent with Santa Rosa County, said, but by the time 70-degree temperatures arrived Saturday, the weather could not have been more perfect for the event.
