Santa Rosa School district shifts to tobacco-free hires

schooltobBeginning Oct. 1, all potential new employees of the Santa Rosa County School District must sign an affidavit, stating they have not used tobacco products during the previous six months — or else they will not be hired.

Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources Lewis Lynn said the new hiring requirement is consistent with the district’s tobacco free campus policy. The school board approved the measure at their Sept. 23 meeting.
