You are now driving on Charlie Brown Memorial Highway

A dedication Ceremony was held Sept. 11 at Boomer Aviation Airstrip to memorialize Warren “Charlie” Brown of Navarre.

Navarre area resident Warren “Charlie” Brown was a well-respected local leader who did much to benefit his community before his passing in 2011.

To recognize his contributions, State Senator Don Gaetz and State Rep. Matt Gaetz worked with their fellow lawmakers during the past legislative session and won approval for a portion of  US Highway 98 from Rosewood Drive to Sunrise Drive to be named the “Warren E. ‘Charlie’ Brown Memorial Highway.”

A highway designation is a rare honor reserved for those Floridians who give extraordinary service to the state. A designation requires an act of the Legislature and approval by the Governor.

Don Gaetz mention that if Navarre were incorporated, “Charlie would have been mayor.”
