Raider offense fizzles as Milton wins Kickoff Classic

The Raider offense could never get in gear at the Kickoff Classic won by Milton 6 – 0 on Aug 21. The Raiders had only one first down and that was on the last play of the game. Milton completely shut down the running game of the Raiders. The Panther defense swarmed to the ball and stopped the ball carrier before they could gather momentum. The Raider passing game beat themselves as several passes were either dropped or underthrown. Until the last play of the game, the longest pass play covered three yards.

The Raider defense played well, making only one mistake, allowing a 27 yard touchdown pass in the Panther’s second possession.

“Give me four quarters, and we have a good chance of winning,” said Coach Walls at the Navarre Beach Area Chamber Breakfast today – the morning after the loss. “The good news is we are still undefeated,” Walls said. Walls was referring to the fact that Kick-off Classic did not count towards rankings.

The Raider JV team beat the JV Panthers 13-0.
