First turtles hatch on Navarre Beach

Ninety-five loggerhead sea turtles hatched from a nest Aug. 17 on Navarre Beach. It was the first hatching of the season.

According to Turtle Patrol volunteer Cinnamon Holderman, about 50 more eggs remain in that nest and those are expected to hatch soon too. She said four other nests on Navarre Beach are being closely watched for activity.
